Ohio Cheerleading
Thank you for your interest in the Ohio Cheer program! We hold two tryouts per year; one in April/May for upper classman and any incoming freshman with proof of acceptance to the University. Sixteen of the 24 positions (8 male/base and 8 female/flyer) are open at the Spring tryout. The second tryout is held the first week of classes in the Fall. All participants in tryouts must provide a copy of insurance and a physical within the previous six months (new NCAA rule) We strongly recommend that if you are interested in the program that you tryout in the Spring as more positions are open. During the Fall tryout there will be 8 positions (4 male/base and 4 female/flyer). Please check our web site regularly for up to date information. Thank you again for your interest in OHIO!
The following are the skills that are required for tryouts:
Tumbling - Standing - back tuck, handspring tuck, jump connected to tumbling ... 2 running elite passes, i.e. : round off tuck (MINIMUM); round off hand tuck, layout, full; etc.
Stunting - 2 elite stunts (Difficulty is built into the score).
Dances - Fight song and "hip hop" dance ... both will be taught at clinics.
Cheer - Taught at clinics and spot cheer taught 5 minutes prior to tryouts.
2010-2011 Spring Tryouts
Cheer tryouts for the 10-11 season will take place on May 7-8, 2010 at the Convocation Center. Tryouts will begin on Friday, May 7th at 6:00pm and continue Saturday, May 8th from 9:00am-5:00pm. (Please read the above requirements) For any questions, please contact Head Cheer Coach, Tricia Perry.
