ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio Athletics will honor longtime supporter Bill Dillingham with the Athletic Director Award of Excellence on Homecoming weekend in October.
The Athletic Director Award of Excellence annually recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact on the Intercollegiate Athletics program at Ohio University. Potential recipients of the Athletic Director Award of Excellence have demonstrated qualities of excellence that include but are not limited to exceptional leadership, volunteerism, assistance to student-athletes, teams and coaches, professional success and financial support. The individual has shown a commitment to ensuring Ohio student-athletes are successful in competition, in the classroom and in life.
"Bill Dillingham is Mr. Bobcat," said Ohio Director of Athletics Jim Schaus. "He loves his university, and it shows. Bill has been a leader for our athletic department, a generous contributor and a loyal volunteer who has truly made a difference in helping us be where we are today as an athletic department and university."
Dillingham will be accepting the Athletic Director Award of Excellence during Ohio University's Alumni Association Gala on Homecoming weekend.
"I'm delighted Bill is receiving this award and so appreciative for all he has done for our athletics program over the years," said Ohio Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development Ryan White. "He has stepped up in so many ways and is someone that we can always count on for support. Bill's impact on Ohio Athletics will be felt for many years to come."
Dillingham, who is a 1971 graduate of Ohio's College of Business, serves as president of the Ohio Bobcat Club Advisory Board. He has been a major gift donor for projects such as the Perry & Sandy Sook Academic Center, Walter Fieldhouse and the Men's Basketball Enhancement Fund. He has also been a consistent leadership donor to the Ohio Bobcat Club annual fund.
Dillingham attended Ohio from 1962-65, then served in the United States Army from '66-69 before returning to complete his degree. He currently serves as president of Buckeye Business, Kroy, and Smith Corona manufactures of printer supplies. He is also a director of Allied Construction Products and Labelprint.
Dillingham was a member of the National Alumni Board and the Ohio University Foundation. He is a past President and member of the executive advisory board to the business school. He serves as president of Community Service Alliance that provides housing for homeless men and veterans, as well as president of the Nehemiah Collaborative that is rehabilitating houses near the westside of Cleveland to change neighborhoods. He is also a director of Edna house. Dillingham is a member of Beta Theta Pi.
Dillingham is the second recipient of the Athletic Director Award of Excellence, joining Perry Sook, who earned the honor in 2017.
