Ohio Student-Athletes Score Well in the Classroom

ATHENS, Ohio-Ohio Athletics released its fall quarter academic report Tuesday, which showed that its student-athletes posted a 3.023 grade point average.

 

The men's cross country squad led the way on the men's side with a 3.157 mark, while women's swimming and diving held a 3.424 average.

 

In all, 12 of Ohio's 16 programs boasted a GPA of 3.093 or higher.

 

"I want to congratulate Ohio's student-athletes on this tremendous accomplishment," said Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt. "It is a true credit to their hard work, both in and out of the classroom, that keeps Ohio at the forefront of academic and athletic success."

 

Additionally, 80 student-athletes were named to the Fall 2008 Dean's List, while 106 had a GPA 3.5 or higher.
