ATHENS, Ohio-Ohio Director of Athletics Jim Schaus announced the creation of the department's five-year strategic plan Tuesday afternoon.
The path to its creation was an eight-month process which involved students, faculty, administrative staff, coaches and fans. The plan outlines the department's future vision, priorities and values, goals, strategies and timelines for completion.
The strategic plan is the next element in Ohio Athletics' "Bobcat Renaissance", a new long-term vision for the department. "Bobcat Renaissance" is a series of strategic initiatives designed to foster excellence in Ohio University Athletics. These efforts will be foundational strategies in the athletic department's future planning. Other key areas of emphasis include: long-term financial stability, building relationships, sport program development, supporting the student-athlete mission and providing value to the University and community.
"The strategic plan will serve as a road map for our future decisions," said Schaus. "The plan has an array of innovative strategies which will guide us to future success. It was an effort that involved a lot of people on and off our campus. Now that we have planned the work, a key will for be us to work the plan."
