ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University Athletics Department has agreed to a multi-year exclusive partnership with adidas beginning in July of 2017 announced Ohio Director of Athletics Jim Schaus.
“We are ecstatic about our new official outfitter partnership with adidas,” Schaus said. “They are a premier brand which has stood for excellence in the sports world for nearly 100 years. Our student-athletes, coaches, staff will love the high quality of their uniform, apparel and shoe lines and our fans will enjoy all that they offer for Bobcats branded gear. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with adidas.”
With the new eight-year deal that covers all varsity sports, the Portland, Oregon-based company will become the official athletic footwear, apparel, accessory and equipment brand of the Bobcats through the 2024-25 athletic season.
“This new partnership is a great opportunity for adidas to work closely with Ohio University Athletics to help them execute their ‘One Team – One Vision’ strategic plan,” said Jim Murphy, director of NCAA Sports Marketing at adidas America. “Our mission is to help athletes perform better and we’re excited about the direction of athletics at Ohio University for years to come.”
Ohio’s already strong national brand helped create a high level of interest from several apparel companies and led to a competitive selection process. Ohio’s current contract with Russell Athletics will expire June 30, 2017.
"Russell has been a great partner over the past ten years and we appreciate all that they have done for Ohio. Our teams will continue to wear their products through June of 2017," Schaus added.
