ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University Athletics has named Ryan White as its Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development. His first official day will be on Aug. 14. The announcement was made today by Director of Athletics Jim Schaus.

White also will serve as the department's liaison with the University Foundation.

"Ryan White is a great hire for us to lead our fundraising activities," Schaus said. "He brings a wealth of experience, creativity and success from several top programs. He has a very friendly and engaging personality which our donors and staff will enjoy."

White comes to Ohio after spending the past 11 years at the University of Virginia where he began his tenure as Assistant Director for the Virginia Athletics Foundation (VAF) before being elevated to the role of an Associate Director in 2009.

During his time in Charlottesville, White was involved in all aspects of the Foundation's fundraising efforts including the annual fund, endowment and capital gifts.

"I would like to thank Jim Schaus and Assistant VP for Advancement, JR Blackburn for the opportunity to lead the development program at Ohio," White said. "I look forward to working with the many loyal and passionate Bobcat fans and donors. I'm excited to build on the recent success of the entire athletics program."

In 2012, White played a major role in the department's annual campaign which raised over $14 million dollars for UVA Athletics. In addition, he conducted a new football seating and parking policy in 2008 which resulted in $2 million dollars in additional revenue.

Among White's most successful fundraising efforts was his role in privately raising $126,000,000 for the department's new basketball arena - John Paul Jones Arena. The state-of-the-art facility opened in 2006. Most recently, White and the VAF development team raised the funds to complete a $14,000,000 multi-purpose indoor practice facility that opened last March.

Prior to his time at Virginia, White worked as an intern in the Wolfpack Club at North Carolina State University where he assisted the Associate Director of Endowments.

White earned his a bachelor's degree in communications from NC State in 2001. He is a member of the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD).

He and his wife Kelly have two children, Matthew and Lily. The couple are expecting their third child in October.
