ATHENS, Ohio-In a partnership with Ohio University Athletics, 970 WATH-AM Radio announced "The Jim Schaus Show on The Sports Fan" Tuesday afternoon. New Ohio Director of Athletics Jim Schaus will co-host the show with WATH/WXTQ Sports Director Caleb Troop every Thursday from 6-7 pm. The first show will air Thursday, August 21.

"The show is all about the fan," said Schaus. "It will allow us to give timely updates on all aspects of the athletic program, provide opportunities for fan feedback by taking live questions from callers and have guests who will share unique perspectives on Ohio Athletics."

Both Schaus and Troop will discuss all of the latest surrounding Ohio Athletics during the show. In addition, the Ohio A.D. will take calls and e-mails from listeners. Each week they will have a student-athlete, coach or media representative on the show to talk about the Bobcats.

"The station is looking forward to being the home of this entertaining and informative show during what is an exciting time for Ohio Athletics," Troop said. "We wanted to provide our devoted listeners what they deserve--an opportunity to speak to and hear from Jim on a weekly basis and ask him the questions that matter to the fans."

Schaus was hired in April of this year and has since helped Ohio revitalize the athletic program. Ohio will see five new head coaches in the 16 programs in 2008-09, four of which Schaus has hired in his short tenure in Athens. He also agreed to a contract extension with football coach Frank Solich through 2013 and has put forth the "Bobcat Renaissance," a five-year strategic plan for the athletic department.
