ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio cheerleaders and Rufus the Bobcat paid a visit to O'Blenness Memorial Hospital from noon to 1 p.m. Friday as part of a kick off pep rally to promote the Ohio vs. Gardner-Webb football game tomorrow night. O'Blenness is one of the sponsors for Ohio Athletics and is the game sponsor for the Ohio vs. Gardner-Webb football game this weekend.

"My team was pleased to be a part of the kick off pep rally at O'blenness," said head cheerleading coach Kristin Hoskinson. "Meeting the doctors, nurses, staff and patients was a great experience. They were all full of joy and bobcat pride. Everyone seemed very excited to cheer on the Cats tomorrow at the home opener"

Rufus and the cheerleaders led the hospital staff in performing cheers and the fight song and mingled with people in the lobby and cafeteria. Following the pep rally, the team visited throughout the hospital and interacted with patients.

"It was a really fun experience and we're all thankful that we had the opportunity to be involved," said senior Athena Spinell.

Ohio football takes on Gardner-Webb tomorrow night for the Bobcats' home opener at Peden Stadium. Action is set to get underway at 7 p.m.
