Ohio Athletics is excited to welcome Kristin Hoskinson
as the new head coach of the Ohio Cheerleading program. Kristin, who began her duties on September 1st, will benefit from the experience of Tricia Perry, who will now serve as program's advisor.
Hoskinson comes to Ohio University with 10 years of competitive cheerleading and teaching experience at all levels and 16 years of competitive dance experience. Hoskinson will oversee all aspects of coaching the team including all practices, gameday and travel supervision, special event supervision and conducting tryouts. As of October 1, the mascot program for Ohio has now been moved under the Ohio Cheerleading program and will now be under the direction of the Head Cheerleading coach. Hoskinson is very excited to have Rufus as a part of her program and looks forward to all of the many opportunities this brings.
Hoskinson is a 2006 Ohio University graduate, where she received her Bachelor of Specialized Studies in Marketing-Communications. As an undergraduate at Ohio, she was a four-year member of the Ohio cheerleading team and captain during the 2005-2006 season. Upon graduation, she remained in Athens for the 2006-2007 season as the Assistant Cheerleading coach, where she assisted in taking the team to its first National Cheerleading Championships since 2001. The squad placed in the top 20 at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College Nationals in Orlando, Florida.
Hoskinson currently works full-time for Varsity Brands Inc., the leading cheer and dance company in the world, as Customer Development Director for the Southeast region. She also works for UCA as the Northeast Assistant Staffing Director and is also an active member of the UCA rules committee, including rules judge for UCA College, High School and All-Star Cheerleading Championships; as well as, the Cheerleading All-Star Worlds and International Cheer Union World Championships in Orlando, which are broadcast on ESPN. She is a coach certifier, speaker, and representative at NCAA tournaments for AACCA (American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators) across the country and recently received her certification as a USASF (United States All Star Federation) Rules Judge. Hoskinson is also a UCA chaperone for the Macy's Day Parade in New York City.
Hoskinson was born in Newark, Ohio and attended Lakewood High School in Hebron, Ohio. She is the daughter of Troy and Dixie Dunlap of Newark, Ohio and Jeff Hoskinson also from Newark. She has one brother, Brian Hoskinson, who was Director of Ticket Operations for Ohio Athletics and is now employed at Miami University of Ohio.
Tricia Perry, who has served as the Bobcats' head cheerleading coach for the past 10 years will serve as the Advisor for both the cheerleading squad and Rufus.
