ATHENS, Ohio-Ohio junior cheerleader Aliecia Bores is representing all non-Bowl Championship Series institutions in the final round of the 2007 Athlon Sideline Spirit Contest. The online voting contest began Saturday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. As of Dec. 11, Bores is in fifth place with more than 15,700 votes.
Bores, a native of Monroeville, Ohio, is in her third year on the Ohio Cheer Team and serves as team captain. She is a retail merchandising and pre-law major.
"Aliecia is a very well-rounded individual who can successfully balance the time demands of being a college student and a cheerleader," said Tricia Perry, Ohio's cheerleading director. "She is a vibrant individual with a tremendous work ethic who serves as a great role model for the younger team members. That is why she was named captain."
The winner of the competition will be featured in the 2008 Athlon Sports College Football annuals and her school will receive $1,000, 2 JVC camcorders, a 42-inch JVC LCD television and a JVC Portable Kaboom Box.
