Andrew Shumate is in his first year at Ohio University, serving as the department's Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations. In his current capacity, Shumate oversees all facility operations at the Convocation Center, Chessa Field and the Ohio Softball Field.

Shumate arrives in Athens after spending the 2012-13 academic year at Wake Forest University where held the title of Event Management Assistant. During his time in Winston-Salem, Shumate served as the head game manager for the University's women's soccer team. In addition, he also assisted with the operations of the University's football, men's soccer, basketball and tennis events.

In addition, Shumate received a significant amount of experience in working with championship events while at Wake Forest as the athletics department played host to the Quarterfinal Rounds of the ACC Soccer Tournament and the First and Second Rounds of the Division I Men's and Women's NCAA Soccer Championships.

Prior to his appointment at Wake Forest, Shumate served as an Operations Intern with the Greenville Astros where he gained significant experience working in the ticket office and generating sponsorship sales. He also managed the team's Kids Zone.

Shumate earned his bachelor's degree in business and organizational management from Maryville College where he was a four-year member of the school's men's basketball team. As a student-athlete, he was a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree and served as the team captain in 2009. He was also a two-time honoree of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court.

After receiving his bachelor's degree from Maryville, he would then go on to earn his master's degree in sports management from East Tennessee State in May of 2012.

A native of Greeneville, Tenn., Shumate resides in Athens.
