Mike Ashcraft joined the Ohio University Intercollegiate Athletics staff in October of 2013.

In his current capacity, Ashcraft handles the publicity effort the Bobcats' volleyball, men's basketball, men's golf and baseball programs. He has previously served as the primary media relations contact for Ohio's soccer, field hockey, women's basketball, swimming & diving, softball and track & field programs. He coordinated the publicity efforts of Ohio softball's 2014 Mid-American Conference tournament championship and first NCAA Championship Regional appearance since 1995, the baseball team's 2015 MAC tournament championship and first NCAA Championship Regional appearance since 1997, the volleyball team''s 2014 perfect MAC regular season championship and 2015 MAC tournament crown and the men's basketball team's 2015-16 run to the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational. He also served as the football program' secondary media relations contact, as the Bobcats earned a trip to the 2013 Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Ashcraft arrived in Athens after spending the 2012-13 campaign at the University of Oklahoma.

Ashcraft is no stranger to the Mid-American Conference or the state of Ohio. Prior to his time at Oklahoma, Ashcraft spent two years serving as a post-graduate athletics communications intern at his Alma mater, Kent State University, after serving for four years as an undergraduate student assistant. During his time with the Golden Flashes, Ashcraft worked alongside Kent State's baseball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track & field, women's basketball, field hockey, gymnastics, softball and volleyball teams. He also assisted with game-day media relations operations for the football and men's basketball programs.

In two seasons working with the Kent State baseball program, Ashcraft directed the communications campaigns for the team's 2011 NCAA Championship Austin Regional finalist finish and the program's historic 2012 NCAA College World Series appearance. He also served as communications coordinator for Kent State gymnastics' historic NCAA Championship appearance in 2011, an event in which the Golden Flashes hosted at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland and Ashcraft served as the official scorer.

During Ashcraft's career in NCAA Division I athletics, he has directed the publicity efforts of six All-America selections, 61 all-conference picks, 59 academic all-conference honorees, six conference players of the year, 11 individual conference champions, 17 MLB First-Year Player Draft picks -- including southpaw Andrew Chafin, who was selected with the 43rd overall pick in the supplemental first round of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft by Arizona and made his big league debut for the Diamondbacks on Aug. 13, 2014 in Cleveland -- and one Capital One Academic All-District ® selection (Ohio diver MaryRose Hillstrom). Ashcraft also spearheaded the Lowe's Senior Class Award campaign for Kent State baseball catcher David Lyon in 2012, who finished as one of 10 finalists for the honor.

Ashcraft graduated from Kent State in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in public relations. During his time as student at Kent State, Ashcraft volunteered as a media relations press box assistant for the Cleveland Browns in 2007 and '08 in addition to volunteering with the conference office at the 2008 MAC Men's & Women's Basketball Championships. He also enjoyed a stint as a freelance sportswriter for the local newspaper in his hometown of Latrobe, Pa. He covered local high school and amateur sports, American Legion baseball, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers training camp at Saint Vincent College for the Latrobe Bulletin from 2003-10.

Ashcraft is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
