Shawn McGuire enters her first year as a learning specialist in the Ohio University athletics department.

McGuire comes to Athens after spending the last two years in the athletics department at the University of San Francisco. She began her career with the Dons as an operations assistant with the women's basketball team for the 2011-12 season before being promoted to recruiting assistant in August 2012.

This past February, McGuire began work as a compliance assistant and assisted with Progress Toward Degree Reports for 252 San Francisco student-athletes. She also helped compile Freshmen Eligibility/Certification Reports and coordinated official visits for the school's 15 varsity teams.

McGuire earned her master's degree in sport management from the University of San Francisco in December 2012.

During her time in the Bay Area, McGuire also worked as an event manager for Stanford University athletics and help set up 13 on-campus athletic venues in preparation for regular and post-season competitions.

McGuire received her bachelor's degree in anthropology from UCLA in June 2010 and was a member of the Bruins' rowing team during junior season in Westwood. As a senior, she served on the support staff for the UCLA women's basketball team.

Before transferring to UCLA, McGuire attended City College of San Francisco where she earned her Associate of Arts degree and played two years on the CCSF women's basketball team.

A San Francisco native, McGuire is a member of UCLA's Bruin Varsity Club.
