Ohio alum joins staff after spending the 2012-13 campaign working with Temple University
Tanner Smith is in his first year with the Ohio University Athletics Department. In his current role, Smith oversees all video features, video marketing and streaming operations.
Smith joins the staff after he spent the 2012-13 campaign working with 20/20 Visual Media in Philadelphia where he served as the company's New Media Director. During his time at 20/20 Visual Media, Smith worked closely with Temple University Athletics to produce a pair of Emmy-nominated shows entitled - Temple Tuff: Behind the Scenes with Temple Football and Temple Basketball: Above the Rim.
The Pickerington, Ohio native is no stranger to Ohio University athletics. During the 2011-12 academic year, he served as a producer and lead editor for WOUB's The Bobcat Sports Showcase, which made its debut under Smith's guidance.
In his first year working with The Bobcat Sports Showcase, Smith created weekly content for the show, which aired locally and regionally across the state of Ohio. He also worked closely with the Ohio University athletic department to produce feature packages and in-depth interviews with student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
Following WOUB's premier of The Bobcat Sports Showcase, Smith and his staff won an Emmy in the category of Half-Hour TV Programming.
In addition to his time at WOUB, Smith served as the Lead Producer and Editor in producing a half-hour documentary, detailing the journey of former Ohio basketball point guard D.J. Cooper. The piece debuted online and generated over 2,500 views in a month-long span and produced a retention rate of 35 percent throughout the half-hour program.
Smith also served as a sports intern at NBC 4 in Columbus in 2010 and spent three years as a producer for WOUB's Hardwood Heroes.
