Ohio baseball junior first baseman Rody Rott (Holmen, Wis.) has been named the 2018 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year while designated hitter Tanner Piechnick (Canonsburg. Pa.) has earned All-MAC Second Team recognition, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday (May 22). Rott also earned All-MAC First Team and All-MAC Defensive Team selection.

Trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, the Ohio softball team (40-16) would go on to score six runs and hit two homeruns to help propel the Bobcats to a 7-3 victory over James Madison (43-12), in the elimination game of the 2018 NCAA Knoxville Regional, inside Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. The win sends Ohio to the Knoxville Regional Championship series against No. 10 Tennessee tomorrow (May 20) at 1 p.m.
The Ohio baseball team (21-32, 9-18 MAC) saw its 2018 season come to end an end with a 4-2 setback to host Central Michigan (26-28-1, 16-11 MAC) in the regular season finale on Saturday (May 19) at Theunissen Stadium.
