ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio swimming and diving team recorded its second straight dual-meet victory Saturday afternoon as the Bobcats won the first 10 events, to cruise past Youngstown State, 134-87, at the Ohio Aquatic Center. With the victory Ohio moves to 7-1 in dual meets on the season, while Youngstown State drops to 2-5.

Sophomore Chelsey Bower (Bethel Park. Pa.) led the way for the Bobcats for a second consecutive day. Bower won both the 50-yard freestyle (24.44) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.36), capping off an impressive weekend that included four first place finishes in as many attempts. On Friday against Denison, Bower placed first in the 50-yard freestyle and swam the anchor leg for Ohio's first-place 200-yard freestyle relay team.

Senior diver Jamie Acks (Solon, Ohio) placed first in the one-meter dive for a second consecutive meet with a mark of 220.65. Acks was followed in the one-meter dive standings by teammates Amy Bromberg (Deerfield, Ill.) and Ali Giordano Pleasanton, Calif.) who earned marks of 216.83 and 185.03, respectively.

Ohio displayed its team depth in the meet as eight different Bobcats posted individual victories. Senior captains Ilse Petersen (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Emily Wylam (Yorktown, Va.) got the Bobcats off to a quick start, as Petersen took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:34.01), followed by Wylam's first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.27).

After the seniors got the momentum rolling for the Bobcats, the freshmen trio of Stacey Huber (Gainesville, Fla.), Amanda Traylor (Los Alamitos, Calif.) and Amanda Cecere (Chelmsford, Mass.) put the finishing touches on the Penguins. Huber touched the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:12.89), Traylor placed first in the 100-yard freestyle (54.08) and Cecere took first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.21).

Ohio sophomore Ashley Wulf (Danville, Calif.) won the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.34) and swam the second leg of Ohio's first-place 400-yard medley relay team to finish with two victories on the day.

The Bobcats return to Mid-American Conference action next Friday, when they play host to Eastern Michigan at the Aquatic Center at 4 p.m.
