ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio men's and women's swimming and diving teams won three events apiece in a loss to conference rival Miami on Saturday afternoon.

The Ohio men's squad fall 4-2 on the season and 1-2 in the MAC after losing 144-99 today to Miami. The women's squad fall 8-3 on the season and 4-2 in the MAC after today's 148.5-99.5 loss.

"I'm very disappointed," said Head Coach Greg Werner. "I felt like we had spots where we competed very well and we performed very well but I felt like we're a better team than what we displayed today."

Freshman Lindsay Hamilton (Saskatchewan, Canada) won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events for the fourth straight meet. Hamilton scored a 268.80 in the one-meter and a 281.70 in the three-meter.

The third win for the women came in the 400 freestyle relay. Carine Vieira de Souza (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), Mallory Rico (Mentor, Ohio), Ashley Marion (London, Ontario) and Ilse Petersen (Johannesburg, South Africa) teamed up for the 3:33.20 first-place finish.

For the men, Luke Herlehy (Batavia, Ill.) won the 400 IM with a time of 4:09.91. Stephen D'Arrigo (Tucson, Ariz.) won the 200 backstroke in 1:56.66.

The third win for the men came in the 400 medley relay. D'Arrigo, Brandon Stakleff (Akron, Ohio), Tyler Post (Coldwater, Ohio) and Jim Bayne (San Antonio, Texas) teamed up for the 3:29.69 finish.

"I don't feel like we lost the meet today," said Werner. "I feel like Miami won the meet and we have to give them respect. They definitely were the better team today and that's why I'm so disappointed. I feel like we could have given them a better run."

Ohio will close out the regular season with two meets on the road next week. The women travel to Marshall on Tuesday, Jan. 23 and both the men and women compete at Ball State on Jan. 27. Afterwards the MAC Championships begin with the women starting on Feb. 14 and the men on Feb. 22.
