ATHENS, Ohio - Remaining unbeaten in 2012, Ohio Swimming and Diving picked up its fifth consecutive dual-meet victory on Saturday, defeating the visiting Ball State Cardinals by a final score of 189-106. With the win, Ohio improved its impressive streak of dual-meet dominance to 15 victories in its last 16 competitions.

The Bobcats (8-1, 4-0 Mid-American Conference) began Saturday's dual meet in impressive fashion, claiming the top spot in each of the first ten events. Ohio's 200 medley relay team of Rachel Stearns (Minnetonka, Minn.), Tori Bagan (Roanoke, Ind.), Molly Slattery (Fredericksburg, Va.) and Lauren Funk (Springfield, Ohio) took the top spot, touching in 1:44.58. Laurin Williams (Shoreline, Wash.) then took first in the 1000 freestyle; Emma Michaels (Findlay, Ohio) won the 200 freestyle and Stearns won the 100 backstroke.

Bagan then picked up her second win of the afternoon, touching first in the 100 breaststroke in a brisk 1:04.21. Her performance was quickly followed up by a 200 butterfly win from Amanda Cecere (Chelmsford, Mass.) and a 50 freestyle victory by Annie Donovan (Findlay, Ohio).

Ball State (9-3, 2-3 MAC) was able to break through and earn its first victory in the 11th event of the day, the 200 breaststroke. Bridgette Ruel earned the top spot in this event, swimming a 2:22.42. Bagan was nipping at her heels the whole time, finishing just .07 seconds behind. The Cardinals proceeded to dominate the 200 IM near the end of the meet, taking the top three spots. By this point, it was too late to come back and the `Cats cruised to another solid victory.

The Bobcats will next be in action on Friday, Feb. 3 when they compete at Xavier. First event in the dual meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.
