ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University swimming & diving team (4-3, 2-2 MAC) was narrowly defeated by Mid-American Conference foe Bowling Green, 155-138, on Friday (Jan. 31) at the Aquatic Center.
The Falcons secured the victory by taking first place in the 400-yard medley relay. The Bobcats fell despite recording eight event wins.
The diving team racked up 32 points for Ohio. Junior Morgan Srail (Avon Lake, Ohio) won the three-meter dive with a score of 299.70 while redshirt senior MaryRose Hillstrom (Dimondale, Mich.) posted a victory in the one-meter dive with a 291.97.
Senior Laurin Williams (Shoreline, Wash.) clocked a 10:17.07 to win the 1000-yard freestyle. She also prevailed in the 500-yard freestyle, timing in at 5:02.45.
Sophomore Addison Ferguson (Westfield Center, Ohio) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.92.
Ohio swept the top four spots in the 200-yard backstroke, with senior Rachel Stearns (Minnetonka, Minn.) leading the way with a 2:03.03 finish. Stearns also won the 400-yard individual medley by clocking a 4:30.92.
Freshman Carrie Dukes (Monkton, Md.) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.49.
The Bobcats look to bounce back on Senior Day as they step out of conference action to host Iowa State and West Virginia. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m. ET.
