Bobcats wrapped up the second day of the Marshall Invite held at the home of the Thundering Herd. This meet served as a preparation for the up and coming Mid-American Conference Championships and was not officially scored, however Corrin Van Lanen, Emilia Lahtinen and Emily Zimcosky all broke pool records and these three plus Emily Ortner added their names to the all-time top-10 lists for Ohio.

Zimcosky now holds the sixth-fastest all-time finish with her performance in th 500-yard freestyle. Lahtinen and Ortner also became record-holders in the 200-yard breaststroke holding the fourth-fastest and the seventh-fastest spots, respectively. In the 100-yard butterfly, Van Lanen is now the eighth-fastest in program history. 

Today’s events kicked off beginning with the 400-yard medley relay where Ohio’s team of freshmen Mikayla Herich (Hebron, Ky.) and Emilia Lahtinen (Ylojarvi, Finland), sophomore Corrin Van Lanen (Green Bay, Wis.) and senior Laura Dawson (Newcastle Upon Tyne, Eng.) clocked in a time of 3:52.42 to take the win.

Next, Ohio’s team of senior Josie Barker (Richmond, N. Yorkshire, Eng.), Dawson, Mackenzie Hornstra (Napercille, Ill.) and Herich won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 1:37.44 time.

Van Lanen recorded a win in the 100-yard butterfly clocking in at 54.65.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Emily Zimcosky (Smock, Pa.) won with a time of 4:51.86.

The day concluded with Lahtinen, sophomore Emily Ortner (Concord, Calif.) and freshman Jenna Vance (Brunswick, Ohio) securing the first three spots in the 200-yard breaststroke with times of 2:16.84, 2:19.02 and 2:26.09, respectively. 

The Bobcats will enter a two-week hiatus before they head to Oxford, Ohio to compete at the Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Miami from Feb. 22-25.
