Bobcat Divers Complete Day One of Zone Championships

Day One Results Get Acrobat Reader

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Four Ohio University divers took part in the 2012 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships on Thursday. MaryRose Hillstrom, Haleigh Bartlett, Morgan Srail and Kristin Capcik participated in the one-meter competition at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center on the campus of Indiana University.

Three of Ohio's divers finished within the top 50 participants on Thursday. In the women's competition, a total of 61 student-athletes competed for their right to dive at the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Alabama. Of the 61 participants, only the top three qualified.

Hillstrom (Dimondale, Mich.) led the way for the Bobcats, placing 32nd with a six-dive score of 238.65. She was followed by Bartlett's score of 225.30. Only a freshman, Bartlett (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) placed 43rd overall.

Srail (Avon Lake, Ohio) also finished within the top 50, placing 47th with a score of 215.65. Capcik (Milwaukee, Wisc.) rounded out Ohio's participation in the event, placing 57th with a score of 189.70.

Day Two of the Zone C Championships will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with the women's three-meter competition.
