AUBURN, Ala. - Laurin Williams of Ohio Swimming and Diving competed in the 1650 Freestyle at the 2012 NCAA Championships on Saturday night. The sophomore finished 23rd in the event, swimming a brisk time of 16:24.44.

Just under three seconds away from finishing in the top 20, Williams' time is the third-fastest mark in Ohio program history. Williams (Shoreline, Wash.) also holds the top time in the Bobcat record books, as she swam a 16:14.02 at the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships.

The 1650 Freestyle was the second NCAA event in which Williams competed this postseason, as she also swam the 500 Freestyle on Friday. Williams placed 52nd in the preliminary round of this event, touching the wall in 4:50.65.

In addition to setting three program records during the 2011-12 season, Williams earned three silver medals at the 2012 MAC Championships and was named to the All-MAC First Team.
