Senior Rachel Stearns took first place in three events to help Ohio defeat Ball State.

MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Ohio University swimming & diving team (1-0, 1-0 MAC) swept the top three spots in three events to defeat Ball State, 162-138 Saturday in a Mid-American Conference dual meet at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
In the one-meter dive, junior Haleigh Bartlett (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) took the top spot with a score of 267.65, Junior Morgan Srail (Avon Lake, Ohio) took second with 231.22 and senior Kristin Capcik (Milwaukee, Wis.) took third with 226.27 for a Bobcat sweep.
The trio finished in the same fashion in the three-meter dive, with Bartlett scoring a 308.93, Srail a 292.2 and Capcik a 280.80.
The Bobcats final sweep was the 500-yard freestyle. Senior Laurin Williams (Shoreline, Wash.) led the pack with a time of 5:08.81. Sophomore Bianca Hauzer (Germiston, South Africa) came in second with a 5:11.73 and junior Michelle Gasior (Louisville, Ky.) took third with a 5:14.98.
In the 1000-yard freestyle, Ohio went one and two as Williams clocked in at 10:41.14 and Hauzer came in right after with a 10:41.31.
Ohio won the 400-yard freestyle relay, as sophomore Haley Clark (College Station, Texas), freshman Josephine Barker (Richmond, N. Yorkshire), junior Tori Bagan (Roanoke, Ind.), and sophomore Casey Papp (Bloomington, Ind.) clocked a 3:32.49.
Senior Rachel Stearns (Minnetonka, Minn.) took first place in three events. She won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.44 seconds, the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.40 and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.49.
Gasior won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.23, and Papp won the 50-yard freestyle with a 24.44 time to cap off the Ohio victory.
Ohio hosts Buffalo in its first home meet of the 2013-14 campaign next Saturday. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Ohio Aquatic Center.
