ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University swimming & diving team (2-0, 2-0 MAC) won nine of 13 events and dominated Buffalo (0-2, 0-2 MAC), 143-89, in a Mid-American Conference dual meet Saturday at the Aquatic Center.

"I'm super proud of how the team stepped up and competed today," said interim head coach Derick Roe. "It was really exciting to see everyone moving forward and staying focused on the goals of the season. We had some really fantastic performances and are really setting up for some great things this year."

Junior Haleigh Bartlett (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) helped the Bobcats sweep the top four spots in the three-meter dive, earning the win with a season-best 336.45. Junior Morgan Srail (Avon Lake, Ohio) recorded a season-best 325.06 to place second. Senior Kristin Capcik (Milwaukee, Wis.) finished third with a 300.90 while redshirt senior MaryRose Hillstrom (Dimondale, Mich.) finished fourth by posting a 234.90 in her season debut. Bartlett, Srail and Capcik all qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships.

Capcik recorded a season-best score of 304.95 to win the one-meter dive and qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships. Hillstrom finished right behind her with a 282.22.

Senior Rachel Stearns (Minnetonka, Minn.) put together another big meet for the Bobcats, winning the 200-yard individual medley by clocking a season-best 2:07.96 and capturing the 200-yard backstroke with a season-best 2:04.17.

Junior Michelle Gasior (Louisville, Ky.) won the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best 2:07.09. Freshman Carrie Dukes (Monkton, Md.) posted a season-best 2:08.49 to take third.

Sophomore Bianca Hauzer (Germiston, South Africa) took first in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best 5:06.95.

Hauzer also timed in at a season-best 10:32.95 in the 1000-yard freestyle to take second, finish right behind senior Laurin Williams (Shoreline, Wash.), who posted a 10:27.37.

Ohio took three of the top four spots in the 100-yard freestyle, as sophomore Haley Clark (College Station, Texas) finished second with a season-best 52.44, sophomore Casey Papp (Bloomington, Ind.) placed third with a 53.35 and freshman Josephine Barker (Richmond, N. Yorkshire) took fourth with a season-best 53.54.

Barker also recorded a season-best 1:54.92 in the 200-yard freestyle to take second.

Clark posted a season-best 23.98 in the 50-yard freestyle for a second-place finish. Junior Tori Bagan (Roanoke, Ind.) took third with a season-best 24.27.

Bagan also posted a season-best 2:22.88 for second in the 200-yard breaststroke. Freshman Hannah Shinn (Waterloo, Ill.) recorded a 2:27.92 to finish fourth, and sophomore Ariel Hodges (Warren, Mich.) finished right behind her with a season-best 2:31.19.

Ohio's victory was bookended by wins in the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard freestyle relay. Stearns, Bagan, Papp and Barker won the 200 with a time of 1:45.61 while Hauzer, Gasior, Dukes and Clark teamed up to take the 400 with a season-beast 3:33.70.

Next weekend features two non-conference rivalry meets for Ohio, as the Bobcats host Marshall on Friday at 5 p.m. before traveling to Columbus, Ohio, to battle Ohio State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
