COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio University swimming & diving team (3-1, 2-0 MAC) suffered its first loss of the 2013-14 season, falling in a 193.5-106.5 decision at No. 19 Ohio State (7-1, 1-1 Big Ten) Saturday at The Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
The Bobcats posted five event victories over the Buckeyes.
"I thought the team competed very well today," said interim head coach Derick Roe. "It's always fun to go up against one of the top teams in the country and get to face that level of competition. To see us rise to the occasion as we did was very exciting."
Sophomore Casey Papp (Bloomington, Ind.) captured the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 57.54. She also won the 50-yard butterfly in 25.56.
Junior Tori Bagan (Roanoke, Ind.) took first place in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 29.67.
Senior Kristin Capcik (Milwaukee, Wis.) achieved her third NCAA Zone qualifying score of the season in the one-meter dive, achieving a 286.20 to win the event.
Sophomore Addison Ferguson (Westfield Center, Ohio) tied for first in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 56.38.
Sophomore Bianca Hauzer (Germiston, South Africa) recorded a season-best time of 5:01.76 to take third in the 500-yard freestyle.
Ohio returns to action Nov. 21-23 as the Bobcats hit the road to take part in the Hokie Invitational.
