CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -- The Ohio University swimming & diving team (3-1, 2-0 MAC) sits in fourth place with 361 points after the second day of the H2Okie Invitational, held Friday at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
Sophomore Addison Ferguson (Westfield Center, Ohio) turned in a big performance in the 100-yard backstroke, placing second with a time of 55.18. Ferguson also took eighth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.91.
The quartet of Ferguson, junior Tori Bagan (Roanoke, Ind.), sophomore Casey Papp (Bloomington, Ind.) and sophomore Haley Clark (College Station, Texas) finished the 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.93 - the fifth-fastest time in school history - to take fifth.
Clark also posted the seventh-fastest time in school history in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 55.46 to take sixth.
Junior Haleigh Bartlett (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) earned a second-place finish in the three-meter dive with a score of 297.30.
Senior Rachel Stearns (Minnetonka, Minn.) recorded a season-best time of 56.62 to finish seventh in the 100-yard backstroke. She also clocked a season-best time of 1:53.49 in the 200-yard freestyle to place 10th.
The 100-yard breaststroke saw Bagan and freshman Hannah Shinn (Waterloo, Ill.) take seventh and ninth, respectively, with times of 1:04.52 and 1:05.94.
Freshman Josephine Barker (Richmond, N. Yorkshire) clocked a 1:53.29 to place ninth in the 200-yard freestyle. She posted a season-best 1:52.44 in the prelim.
Senior Laurin Williams (Shoreline, Wash.) took ninth place in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:24.50.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Barker, junior Michelle Gasior (Louisville, Ky.), Williams and Stearns joined forces to place sixth with a time of 7:35.43.
The H2Okie Invitational concludes on Saturday.
