AKRON, Ohio - On day two of the Zippy Invitational the Ohio swimming and diving team won three events and placed in the top three in three other events to total 1,033 points and extend its lead heading into the final day.

Ohio entered the day only eight points in front of second-place Buffalo, but behind the performance of junior Ashley Marion (London, Ontario) the Bobcats widen their lead to nearly 100 points. Marion led the `Cats with two first place finishes, setting a new meet record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:26.99 and swimming the final leg of Ohio's first place 800-yard freestyle relay team (7:35.20).

Freshman Rachel Heim (San Diego, Calif.) had the other first place finish for Ohio, touching the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly (56.22).

Senior co-captain Emily Wylam (Yorktown, Va.) had another solid day, placing second in the 100-yard backstroke (57.30) and swimming the opening leg of Ohio's second place 200-yard medley relay team (1:46.94).

Freshman Amanda Traylor (Los Alamitos, Calif.), who placed second in the 500-yard freestyle on day one, had a strong performance in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.62 to finish third.

Buffalo ended day two in second place with 937 points, followed by Illinois State with 843 points and Xavier with 738 points.
