2007 Zippy Invitational Day Three Results Get Acrobat Reader

AKRON, Ohio - The Ohio swimming and diving team placed first in three events Sunday afternoon, building on its already large lead and totaling 1,588.5 points to win the three-day Zippy Invitational, hosted by Akron.

First place finishes by senior Emily Wylam (Yorktown, Va.), senior Michaela Hahn-Lawson (Painesville, Ohio) and freshman Amanda Cecere (Chelmsford, Mass.) allowed the Bobcats to cruise on the final day and win the invitational that featured 10 other teams.

Wylam placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:03.35), Hahn-Lawson touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.97) and Cecere had the fastest time in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.77).

Buffalo finished a distant second in the team standings with 1,289 points, followed by Illinois State (1,167) and Xavier (1,073). Ohio entered the final day 96 points ahead of Buffalo.

Ohio junior Ashley Marion (London, Ontario), who won two events on day two, continued her impressive weekend with a third place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.05).

The Bobcat freshmen once again performed well, combining for five top-five finishes on the day. Freshman Rachel Heim (San Diego, Calif.) finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.09), less than half a second behind fellow freshman Cecere and freshmen Stacey Huber (Gainesville, Fla.) and Amanda Traylor (Los Alamitos, Calif.) placed in the top five in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Huber placed second with a time of 17:16.53, while Traylor finished fifth with a mark of 17:27.78.

For the weekend the Bobcats placed first in seven events.

Ohio's next scheduled meet is against Denison on Jan. 11 at the Ohio Aquatic Center.
