FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Ohio University diving team put together a strong performance at the Mike Peppe Diving Invite on Friday (Jan. 3) as part of the squad's winter training trip to Fort Lauderdale.
Senior Kristin Capcik (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the way for the Bobcats with a third-place finish, recording a 268.05. Redshirt senior MaryRose Hillstrom (Dimondale, Mich.) posted a 262.90 to take fourth. Junior Morgan Srail (Avon Lake, Ohio) finished sixth with a 258.40. Junior Haleigh Bartlett (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) took seventh with a 252.65.
"The weather conditions were pretty harsh, as the wind was strong and the temperature was rather cool," said 10th-year diving coach Russ Dekker. "Needless to say, our divers competed well and outscored all other teams that are here. All in all, I am very pleased with how our training is going. I thought the girls handled the bad weather conditions very well and remained focused on the things that they could control."
The Bobcats (3-1, 2-0 MAC) will return to competition on Jan. 11, traveling to Denison for a dual meet. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
