FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Ohio University swimming & diving team is spending part of its winter break in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, Fla., taking part in a 12-day training trip.
The Bobcats are training twice a day as they prepare for the spring stretch of their 2013-14 schedule and enjoying the sun and the beach while they are at it.
Several members of the team will be blogging about their experiences in Fort Lauderdale. Junior Haleigh Bartlett (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) recalls the eighth day.
"After a much needed and enjoyable Sunday off, the Bobcat diving team headed straight back into training. It was a nice surprise to all how sunny and warm the weather was since the forecast had shown rain and clouds all day. The divers started the day off by stretching and diving in the Hall of Fame Pool. Once the morning practice was over, we headed straight to the beach to soak up the sunshine and swim in the ocean for a couple hours. We had a tougher and longer second practice, doing every optional on one meter and three meter. We all made it through in good spirits, and it turned out to be one of our best practices yet. We ended the day with the swimmers by pushing sleds and lifting weights. After weights with the swimmers, the whole team took awesome underwater pictures and video." - Haleigh
The Bobcats (3-1, 2-0 MAC) will return to competition on Jan. 11, traveling to Denison for a dual meet. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
