2012-13 Season Swimming and Diving Stats
ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University Swimming and Diving Team will kick off its New Year with a trip to Granville, Ohio, to square off against the Big Red of Denison. Dual meet competition is set to begin Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Trumbull Aquatics Center.
In the 2011-12 season, Ohio posted the top time or score in each of the 16 events to outscore Denison, 186-101. Sophomore Haleigh Bartlett (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) took first in the one-meter diving competition with an impressive score of 293.62 while also taking first in the three-meter event with another impressive score of 304.58.
Ohio is coming off a month-long break from NCAA competition, having most recently finished second with 1,211 points at the Zippy Invitational, ending its impressive run of six consecutive titles.
Freshman Addison Ferguson (Westfield Center, Ohio) had a solid performance at the invitational, placing first in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 55.69. This beat her prior best by two full seconds and tied for the fifth fastest time in school history.
The relay team of Ferguson, Anastasia Bocharnikova (Nizhny Tagil, Russia), Deidre Geroni (Emmaus, Pa.) and Lauren Funk (Springfield, Ohio) took home the 200 medley relay with a time 1:43.53, setting a meet record and a mark which is currently the fourth fastest time in school history.
Denison enters the weekend the owner of a 2-2 dual-meet record with a 1-0 mark in NCAC competition. The Big Red will host conference rival Wittenberg on Friday afternoon before the Bobcats come to town on Saturday.
