ATHENS, Ohio - Haleigh Bartlett has been named a Diver of the Week after her impressive performances on Saturday against Denison, the Mid-American Conference announced on Thursday. The freshman diver has qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones competition following a very strong outing on the one and three-meter diving boards last weekend.
Haleigh had a fantastic weekend for the Bobcats, securing qualification in the NCAA Diving Zones (diving's equivalent to swimming's NCAA "B" cut) competition with high scores from both the one-meter and three-meter boards in Saturday's dual-meet victory over Denison. She earned the top spot in both events, scoring 304.58 from the three-meter board and 293.52 from the one-meter board. As only a freshman, she cemented her place in Bobcat history this past weekend as well, with her three-meter score being the second-best mark achieved in Ohio history and her one-meter score ranking third all-time.
In addition to her impressive athletic performances, Haleigh has earned a 3.54 grade-point-average so far during her time at Ohio University.
Haleigh represents a very strong group of Ohio divers this year, four of whom have already qualified for post-season competition. Bartlett will compete in the Zones competition from both the one and three-meter boards while teammates Kristin Capcik (one meter), MaryRose Hillstrom (one meter) and Morgan Srail (one meter) will also be participating in the competition.
The Bobcats will next be in action on Jan. 15 when they compete in a dual meet at Youngstown State. First event is scheduled for 1 p.m.
