ATHENS, Ohio - Tori Bagan has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced recently. This is the first such honor of the season for Bagan and the second earned by the Bobcats during the 2012-13 season.
Tori had a very strong week for Ohio Swimming and Diving, playing a large role in the Bobcats' two dual-meet victories at Marshall (167-116) and West Virginia (165-135). The sophomore swam in a total of seven events throughout the two dual meets, winning four of them and never finishing below third place.
At the dual meet against Marshall, Bagan swam on the winning 200 medley relay team, claimed second in the 50 free, and placed third in the 100 free. She followed this up with a very strong performance against West Virginia, taking first in the 100 breaststroke (season-best time of 1:05.90), the 200 breaststroke (season-best time of 2:23.87), and was also a member of the winning 400 medley relay team. Bagan's only non-first place finish at the dual meet against West Virginia was a still impressive second-place result in the 200 freestyle relay.
