ATHENS, Ohio- Rachel Heim has been named the Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of January 25-31, the conference announced Friday. The junior swimmer currently has a 3.95 grade-point average while majoring in chemistry/biochemistry.

Heim (San Diego, Calif.) continues to have impressive performances week in and week out for the Bobcats. This past weekend (January 29-30), she took first place in six of her seven events, with the lone non-winning performance being a second-place finish in the 50 Free on Friday at Xavier. Also at Xavier, Heim was on the winning 200 Medley Relay team and the fastest 200 Free Relay team. On Saturday at Ball State, Heim was on the winning 200 Medley Relay and 400 Free Relay teams, won the 400 Free with a season-best time and took first in the 100 Fly. She is a huge reason why the Bobcats (9-2, 4-2 MAC) are performing at such a high level this season.

A number of Heim’s results this season stack up among the conference’s best, as her 100 Free (51.98) ranks tenth, her 100 Backstroke (56.48) is second and her 200 Butterfly (2:05.10) is seventh.

The Bobcats (9-2, 4-2 MAC) host Eastern Michigan on Saturday at 1 p.m. The team will compete at the MAC Championships in Oxford, Ohio, on February 24-27.
