ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio University swimming and diving team (5-4, 2-2 MAC) concludes the 2013-14 regular season with two road dual meets this weekend.

The Bobcats visit Xavier next Friday (Feb. 7) in a dual meet that will take place at 5 p.m. ET. The Bobcats wrap up the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 8) when they travel to Oxford, Ohio, to battle Mid-American Conference rival Miami at 10 a.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
Ohio was narrowly defeated by MAC foe Bowling Green, 155-138, last Friday (Jan. 31) at the Aquatic Center.

The Falcons secured the victory by taking first place in the 400-yard medley relay. The Bobcats fell despite recording eight event wins.

The diving team racked up 32 points for Ohio. Junior Morgan Srail (Avon Lake, Ohio) won the three-meter dive with a score of 299.70 while redshirt senior MaryRose Hillstrom (Dimondale, Mich.) posted a victory in the one-meter dive with a 291.97.

Senior Laurin Williams (Shoreline, Wash.) clocked a 10:17.07 to win the 1000-yard freestyle. She also prevailed in the 500-yard freestyle, timing in at 5:02.45. Sophomore Addison Ferguson (Westfield Center, Ohio) won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.92.

Ohio swept the top four spots in the 200-yard backstroke, with senior Rachel Stearns (Minnetonka, Minn.) leading the way with a 2:03.03 finish. Stearns also won the 400-yard individual medley by clocking a 4:30.92.

Freshman Carrie Dukes (Monkton, Md.) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.49.

Ohio closed out its 2013-14 home slate with a Senior Day split, topping West Virginia, 197.5-96.5 and falling to Iowa State, 173-126, last Saturday (Feb. 1) at the Aquatic Center.

The Bobcats posted victories in six events.

Williams took first place in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:10.70.

Ferguson won the 100-yard backstroke in 55.49. She also earned the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.61.

Capcik captured the three-meter dive with a score of 312.05.

Ohio swept the top three spots in the one-meter dive, with Srail leading the charge with a score of 300.10.

Stearns won the 200-yard individual medley by clocking a 2:08.81.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Xavier fell to Wright State, 116-107, last Friday (Jan. 31).

Sophomore Mackenna Rife (10:49.51) and freshman Emily Wagner (10:50.75) took the top two spots in the 1000 -yard freestyle. Sophomore Molly Kroeger (1:55.45) won the 200-yard freestyle while junior Maddie Day (25.39) claimed the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle.

Miami (8-1, 7-0 MAC) will be putting its perfect conference mark on the line on Saturday.

In Miami's victory over the Eastern Michigan last Saturday (Feb. 1), junior Katie Bootsma led the RedHawks with two first-place finishes. Bootsma swept the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke against the Eagles. The RedHawks finished with eight total individual wins during the meet

The Bobcats take aim at their 12th league crown when they travel to Geneva, Ohio for the 2014 MAC Championships, which will be held Feb. 27-March 1 at the SPIRE Institute.
