ATHENS, Ohio - With a successful dual-meet schedule a recent memory, the Ohio University Swimming and Diving Team (6-3, 1-2 MAC) travels northeast this week for the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. The three-day event will begin on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. from the UB Natatorium on the campus of the University at Buffalo.
Buffalo last hosted the MAC Championships in 2008. Ohio collected its 10th MAC title during these Championships, scoring 679.5 points to claim top honors in the league for the first time since 2001. The Bobcats won their last--and 11th--MAC championship in 2011, scoring 669.5 points to earn first place in Athens.
Ohio led the 2012 MAC Championships after the first day of competition in Akron, Ohio, but dropped to second following the second day of action. The Bobcats placed second at the competition, earning 612 points to finish just 23 points behind Toledo. Ohio collected a multitude of conference accolades at the competition, placing two student-athletes on the All-MAC First Team (Rachel Stearns and Laurin Williams), and three on the All-MAC Second Team (Amanda Cecere, Emma Michaels, and Sarah Owen).
