ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio swimming and diving team has five swimmers competing this weekend. Freshman Amanda Traylor (Los Alamitos, Calif.) will head to West Lafayette, Ind. to compete in the NCAA Qualifying Meet at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center, and sophomores Gaby Buckner (Wyoming, Ohio), Heather McKenzie (Burke, Va.) and Ashley Poitinger (Akron, Ohio), along with freshman Kasey Tolbert (Yorktown, Ind.) travel to Oxford, Ohio, to compete in the 2008 Ohio Senior Short Course Championship Meet at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.

Traylor is looking to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the 1,650-yard freestyle, after taking second in the event at the 2008 MAC Championships with an NCAA "B" cut time of 16:48.85. Traylor was named Second Team All-MAC at the conference championships. The qualifying meet runs March 1-2.

Buckner, McKenzie, Poitinger and Tolbert will compete in the Ohio senior championships (Feb. 29-March 2) hosted by the Miami Valley Aquatic Club, after not participating in the MAC Championships.
