Notes and Times 
ATHENS, Ohio- Ohio Swimming and Diving is going to be honored at halftime of Thursday's Men's Basketball game against Bowling Green in the Convocation Center. The team will be earning the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee 2008-09 President's Award for excellence in community service, academics and athletics.
The Bobcats compiled a 9-3 dual meet record in the 2008-09 season, finished second at the Mid-American Conference Championships and sent one student-athlete (current senior Chelsey Bower) to the NCAA Championships. The team compiled a 3.39 Fall Quarter GPA, a 3.25 mark in the winter and a 3.41 score in the spring of the last academic year.
Head coach Greg Werner's squad participated in an impressive number of charity events, donating its time and efforts for Athens Beautification Day, the Rufus Reads program, Skate for Schools, Choices-AMS and the Empower jewelry sale at Ohio University's Baker Center, to name a few.
Ohio finished third at the 2009-10 MAC Championships in Oxford, Ohio. The Bobcats were paced by co-MAC Swimmer of the Year Rachel Heim's four first-place finishes and the strong swimming and leadership of MAC Senior Swimmer of the Year Bower. (The Senior Swimmer of the Year award is an honor that is voted on by the student-athletes of the competing schools during the championships.)
A limited squad of Ohio student-athletes will be competing at the Ohio Senior Championships this weekend on the campus of Miami University. The competition is slated to begin on Friday, March 5 and conclude on Sunday, March 7. Stay tuned to OhioBobcats.com for a recap of the weekend's events.
