Nine Ohio Swimmers Earn National Recognition
 

 
 
 

 
Ohio celebrates its 2008 MAC Championship.

ATHENS, Ohio - The 2008 Mid-American Conference Champion Ohio swimming and diving team had nine student-athletes named to the CollegeSwimming.com 2008 Division I Mid-Major All-America Honorable Mention Swimming team.

Amanda Cecere, Leah Giancarli, Rachel Heim, Stacey Huber, Ashley Marion, Ilse Petersen, Mallory Rico, Amanda Traylor and Emily Wylam were all named honorable mention for their performances in the pool this past season. To qualify for honorable mention, student-athletes had to earn NCAA `B' time standards during the 2007-08 season. All nine of the Bobcats earned their `B' cut times at the MAC Championships en route to leading the Bobcats to their 10th MAC title.

CollegeSwimming.com defines Mid-Major institutions as colleges or universities that are not affiliated with a Bowl Championship Series (BCS) conference as well as those institutions awarding less than half of the maximum-allowable scholarships (seven for women, five for men).

Ohio led the MAC with its nine selections, followed by Eastern Michigan's four honorees.

Ohio finished the season ranked No. 4 in the nation in the CollegeSwimming.com Division I Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. The top five in the final poll were Princeton, Harvard, Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Navy.
