Full CSCAA Teams

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio University swimming and diving team was recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America this week, earning a Team Scholar All-America award. In addition to this team honor, five Bobcats were individually recognized for their successes both in the pool and in the classroom, garnering CSCAA Scholar All-American Honorable Mentions. 

The Team Scholar All-American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams which have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the semester. Ohio finished with a solid cumulative team GPA of 3.09. 

The individual Scholar All-American award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for the semester and have achieved a “B” time/score standard to qualify for the regional phase of postseason competition. Representing Ohio on this list were Kristin Capcik (Milwaukee, Wis.), MaryRose Hillstrom (Dimondale, Mich.), Lauren Funk (Springfield, Ohio), Morgan Srail (Avon Lake, Ohio), and Katey Brooks (North Royalton, Ohio).

Academic All-MAC ... Qualified for the NCAA Zones Competition from the one-meter and three-meter boards ... Placed 24th in the preliminary round of the three-meter competition at the NCAA Zones, scoring 254.85 points ... Placed 32nd in the preliminary round of the one-meter competition at the NCAA Zones, scoring 240.00 points ... Earned fifth at the MAC Championships from the three-meter board, scoring 325.88 points ... Earned 11th at the MAC Championships from the one-meter board, scoring 265.70 points ... Earned five first place finishes in various competitions throughout the season ... Earned 20 top-five finishes in various competitions throughout the season ... Set a new Ohio program record from the three-meter board (337.35) against Toledo on Feb. 2 ... Earned the second best score in program history from the one-meter board (312.90) against Miami on Feb. 9.

Academic All-MAC ... Scored a career-best 318.10 points at the MAC Championships from the three-meter diving board, earning ninth place ... Scored 268.95 points at the MAC Championships from the one-meter diving board, earning ninth place ... Her three-meter score at MACs ranks as the fifth highest in program history ... Earned 17 top-five finishes throughout the season. 

Lauren Funk | Senior in 2012-13 | Interior Architecture
Second Team All-MAC ... Academic All-MAC ... Participated at the U.S. Olympic Trials in July, placing 79th in the preliminary round of the 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.38 ... Was a member of the winning 200 Medley Relay squad at the MAC Championships which finished in a school-record time of 1:39.87 ... Placed second at the MAC Championships in the 200 Freestyle Relay (1:31.68), a time which was the sixth fastest in program history ... Placed third at the MAC Championships in the 400 Freestyle Relay (3:23.19), a time which was the third fastest in program history ... Swam on the 400 Medley Relay team which finished fourth at the MAC Championships (3:42.81) ... Placed fifth in the 100 Free (50.46) at the MAC Championships ... Placed 22nd in the preliminary round of the 100 Breaststroke (1:04.91) at the MAC Championships ... Earned 16 first-place finishes throughout the season ... Earned 45 top-five finishes throughout the season.

Academic All-MAC ... Placed fourth from the one-meter board (299.40) at the MAC Championships ... Placed sixth from the three-meter board (321.35) at the MAC Championships ... Earned 23rd from the three-meter board (256.25) at the NCAA Zone Championships ... Placed 27th from the one-meter board (244.70) at the NCAA Zone Championships ... Recorded the fifth-highest score from the one-meter board in Ohio program history (299.40) ... Earned six first-place finishes at dual meets and invitationals during the season ... Finished within the top three on 18 occasions during the 2012-13 season.

Placed fifth at the MAC Championships in the 800 Freestyle Relay (7:27.13) and the 50 Free (23.12) ... Placed ninth at the MAC Championships in the 100 Free (1:50.22) ... Earned 15 first-place results throughout the season ... Finished within the top five of events on 47 occasions throughout the season ... Swam on Ohio's 400 Medley Relay team which scored the third best time in program history (3:23.19) ... Swam on the 200 Freestyle Relay team which finished in the sixth fastest time in program history (1:30.46) ... Swam on the 400 Medley Relay team which finished in the ninth fastest time in program history (3:47.10) ... Swam on the 800 Freestyle Relay team which finished in the 10th fastest time in program history (7:27.13) ... Swam the fifth fastest 50 Freestyle time (23.12) in program history ... Swam the seventh fastest 200 Freestyle time (1:50.22) in program history ... Named the MAC Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 21. 

Ohio finished second at the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championships. The Bobcats will open the 2013-14 season at Ball State on Oct. 26.
