ATHENS, Ohio -Coming off its annual intrasquad meet, Ohio Swimming and Diving welcomes the Eastern Michigan Eagles to the Aquatic Center for its 2012-13 home opener. The teams will square off beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
A historically exciting dual meet, two of the last three meetings between Ohio and EMU have been decided by a mere two-point margin. In fact, national swimming publication Profiles in Excellence named the 2011 clash between the Bobcats and Eagles to the "Top Ten Most Exciting" list in June of this year. Ohio earned a big come-from-behind victory in this meet, taking a 151-149 decision in Ypsilanti, Mich.
In their last action, the Bobcats split into two separate teams for the annual Green vs. White battle. The Green Team outlasted its opposition by a slim margin of two points, winning 53-51. Kristin Capcik (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Stephanie Gyurke (Bellevue, Ohio) helped lead the Green Team, taking the top spots in the three-meter diving and 200 Freestyle events, respectively.
Katey Brooks (North Royalton, Ohio) led all Bobcats on the White Team, winning or helping to win the following three events: 200 Medley Relay, 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle.
