ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio Swimming and Diving hosts its second home dual meet of the 2012-13 season on Saturday afternoon, welcoming the Ohio State Buckeyes for a non-conference dual meet. The first event of the day is set to begin at 1 p.m. from the Ohio University Aquatic Center.
The Bobcats enter the dual meet with an 0-1 record on the season, having lost a home contest with Eastern Michigan, 168-132, on Oct. 27. Ohio held the lead through the first ten events of the dual meet but ultimately fell when the Eagles won the final six events of the day. Rachel Stearns (Minnetonka, Minn.) had a very strong day for the Bobcats in the loss, helping to earn 32 points for the Bobcats. Stearns earned three first-place finishes (100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke, 200 Medley Relay) and one second-place result (200 Individual Medley).
Stearns' times in the 100 Backstroke (57.14) and 200 Backstroke (2:03.69) stack up quite well in the Mid-American Conference. Her 100 Backstroke time is the fastest in the league at this point of the season while her time in the 200 is currently second.
Saturday's dual meet will serve as another installment in what is becoming a frequent matchup between Ohio and Ohio State, as the two programs have met three times in the last five seasons. Ohio's last win over the Buckeyes came on Oct. 27, 2007, when the Bobcats claimed a 152-148 victory.
