ATHENS, Ohio - Katey Brooks of Ohio Swimming and Diving has been named the Mid-American Conference's female Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Brooks (North Royalton, Ohio) had a very strong weekend for Ohio Swimming and Diving, playing a large role in the Bobcats' dominating victory at the 2012 George Mason Patriot Invitational. In the seven events she swam throughout the three-day tournament, Brooks claimed four first-place finishes, one third-place effort and one fourth-place result.
With all of her results, Katey had at least a hand in scoring 191 of Ohio's 785.5 points throughout the weekend, helping the `Cats to a 136.5-point victory over the nearest team.

200 Freestyle Relay: 1:35.27 - 1st
400 Freestyle Relay: 3:26.49 - 1st
400 Medley Relay: 3:50.81 - 1st
800 Freestyle Relay: 7:35.06 - 1st
100 Free: 51.85 - 3rd
50 Free: 23.63 - 4th
Katey's 100 Free time from this weekend currently ranks third in the Mid-American Conference. She also swam important roles on the 200 Freestyle Relay (currently 1st in MAC), 400 Freestyle Relay (1st in MAC), 800 Freestyle Relay (1st in MAC), and 400 Medley Relay (1st in MAC).
Ohio will next be in action at the 2012 Zippy Invitational in Akron, Ohio, from Nov. 30 - Dec. 2. The Bobcats will be looking to claim first place at the tournament for the seventh straight season.
