COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio University women's track & field team put together a pair of top-5 finishes at the Buckeye Classic Friday inside Ohio State's French Field House.
The Bobcats were led by junior Donyelle Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio), who placed fourth in the weight throw with a personal-best throw of 17.23m. The mark was more than a meter further than her previous top throw.
Brown also placed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 12.41m mark.
In addition to Brown's solid day, junior Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) garnered a fourth-place showing in the shot put with a mark of 12.79m. Rose also earned a top-10 showing in the weight throw by finishing seventh with a throw of 15.14m.
Junior Chanda Cuckler competed in a trio of events for Ohio, with her best performance coming in the 60m hurdles. The Athens, Ohio, native finished eighth in the event after crossing the finish line in 9.07 seconds.
Cuckler also placed 12th in the long jump with a leap of 5.01m and finished 14th in the shot put with a mark of 10.99m.
Rounding out the Ohio contingent was freshman Emma Ryan (Vincent, Ohio), who placed 11th in the weight throw with a personal-best 13.80m performance.
After Friday's meet, Ohio returns to action with a full squad on Jan. 24 at the Tom Wright Classic in Bowling Green, Ohio.
