Tiffin Carnival Results
TIFFIN, Ohio – The Ohio University women’s track & field team finished third out of 12 teams with 117 points at the Tiffin University Carnival on Saturday at the Tiffin Track & Field Facility.
The Bobcats won four events and earned top-three finishes in six events.
"For the third meet of the indoor season, we had a productive showing," head coach Clay Calkins said. "Highlights included multiple top-8 performances from the distance crew, jumps and throws. Key performances from Melissa Thompson, Kayla Scott, Morgan Reichert, Erin Gale and Danielle Winningham, as well as the DMR victory, were solid efforts from our team."
Ohio student-athletes took the top four spots in the mile run to capture 29 of a possible 39 points in the event. Junior Melissa Thompson (Westerville, Ohio) took top honors in the mile (5:11.88), while freshman Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) took second (5:18.75), junior Meade Morgan (Marion, Ohio) finished third (5:23.79) and senior Ashley Waddington (Sandusky, Ohio) crossed the finish line in fourth (5:28.63).
In addition, Thompson finished first in the 800m run (2:22.88) – nearly two seconds in front of the second place finisher - while sophomore Morgan Reichert (Pataskala, Ohio) captured the 3000m run title in a time of 10:25.52.
The team of Gale, sophomore Karissa Conrad (Lancaster, Ohio), senior Danielle Winningham (Barboursville, W.Va.) and freshman Hayley Stegemiller (Lebanon, Ohio) captured the distance medley relay title (12:55.88), while the Bobcat team of Reichert, freshman Tessa Weigand (Akron, Ohio), freshman Krista Roehlig (Uniontown, Ohio) and junior Emily Pifer (Canal Winchester, Ohio) finished second in 12:58.70.
Ashland University won the meet (128 points), while Indiana Tech took second (126).

Winningham earned Ohio six points by finishing third in the 400m dash (59.95).
Weigand finished fourth (1:45.85) in the 600m run to pick up four points for the Bobcats.
In addition to Thompson’s first place finish (2:22.88), Scott took sixth in the 800m run (2:26.84) to grab three points for Ohio.
Senior Erin Gale (Wadsworth, Ohio) picked up eight points with a second place finish in the 1000m run (3:11.36) while senior Lauren Adkins (Gallipolis, Ohio) took eighth in 3:21.48.

The ‘Cats took four of the top 10 spots in the 3000m run. Reichert earned the top position at 10:25.52 (nearly 14 seconds ahead of the next closest finisher), while Morgan finished third (10:39.36), senior Emily Skidmore (Athens, Ohio) crossed in sixth (10:53.52) and Roehlig took seventh (11:00.97).

Sophomore Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) earned the ‘Cats five points by finishing fourth in the high jump (1.67m).
Senior Alexis Geiger (Gallipolis, Ohio) finished fourth in the long jump with a top jump of 5.30m.
Sophomore Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) and senior Kristen Mason (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) finished sixth and eighth respectively in the shot put with throws of 12.56m and 11.83m.
Ohio returns to action Friday (Jan. 25) at the Tom Wright Classic in Bowling Green, Ohio.
