Tom Wright Classic Results
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Ohio University women’s track & field team earned six first-place finishes and claimed top-three marks in nine events Friday at the Tom Wright Classic in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Ohio was joined at the four-team meet by host Bowling Green, Miami (Ohio) and Wayne State.
“We had several solid performances today,” head coach Clay Calkins said. “Team highlights included first-place finishes in the high jump, long jump and 3000m. Our best performance came from Melissa Thompson, who won the mile with an automatic MAC meet qualifying time.”
Thompson, a junior and Westerville, Ohio native, finished the mile run in 4:57.98 to earn a spot at the MAC Indoor Championships. In addition, freshman Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio) finished second in the mile in a personal-best time of 5:06.23.
Sophomore Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) won the high jump with a mark of 1.65m, while freshman Hayley Stegemiller (Lebanon, Ohio) finished fourth with a jump of 1.50m.
Senior Alexis Geiger (Gallipolis, Ohio) finished first in the long jump with a season-best mark of 5.51m, while freshman Erika Armstead (Cincinnati, Ohio) jumped 4.95m in the final to claim fourth. Sophomore Morgan Overbay (Newark, Ohio) finished fifth with a jump of 4.94m.
Junior Morgan Meade (Marion, Ohio) captured the 3000m title with a time of 10:12.80, while freshman Kristin Winkel (Avon Lake, Ohio) won the triple jump with a mark of 10.09m.

Senior Danielle Winningham (Barboursville, W. Va.) led Ohio with a fourth-place finish in the 400m dash (59.86).
The Bobcats claimed the top two spots in the 600m run. Sophomore Delaney Bolger (Lebanon, Ohio) finished first in a time of 1:44.23, while sophomore Maria Brafford (West Chester, Ohio) placed second in 1:52.36
Senior Erin Gale (Wadsworth, Ohio) finished second (2:22.90), while Stegemiller crossed the finish line in 2:23.84 to claim fifth.
The Ohio University ‘A’ team of senior Kiley Mathews (Cortland, Ohio), sophomore Karissa Conrad (Lancaster, Ohio), Cuckler and Winningham finished third in the 4x400 relay in a time of 4:10.77.
The Ohio ‘A’ team of Scott, Gale, Thompson and freshman Tessa Weigand (Akron, Ohio) placed third in the distance medley (13:19.09), while the ‘B’ team of senior Lauren Adkins (Gallipolis, Ohio), freshman Peyton Adkins (Gallipolis, Ohio), freshman Sarah Kaufman (Zanesville, Ohio) and freshman Maureen Dean (Sylvania, Ohio) finished fourth in 13:40.93.
In the 60m hurdles, Cuckler placed third in a time of 9.08 while Winkel crossed the finish line in fourth place (9.13).
Senior Jaimie Cavinee (Ashville, Ohio) finished third in the pole vault (3.20m), while junior Miranda Richardson (Dublin, Ohio) claimed fourth place (2.90m).
Sophomore Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) earned a fifth-place finish with a throw of 12.54m.
Rose finished fourth in the weight throw after posting a 15.30m mark in the final.
The Bobcats now split up to take part in two events on Friday (Feb. 1) and Saturday (Feb. 2) next weekend. Ohio will send student-athletes to compete in the Meyo Invitational at the University of Notre Dame and the YSU National Mid-Major Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio.
