Meyo Invitational Day 1 Results | YSU Invitational Day 1 Results
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Ohio University women’s track and field team wrapped up day one competition Friday at the Meyo Invitational and YSU National Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., and Youngstown, Ohio, respectively.
Highlighting the Ohio field at the Meyo Invitational was freshman Kayla Scott (Canal Winchester, Ohio), who placed 24th out of 61 runners in the final of the 5,000m run. Scott crossed the finish line in a personal-best mark of 17:20.56, which broke her previous high mark by 18 seconds and automatically qualified her for the MAC Indoor Championships in the event.
Sophomore Morgan Reichert (Pataskala, Ohio) also qualified for the MAC Indoor Championships in the 5,000m by placing 34th in the Meyo Invitational with a personal-best time of 17:32.46. The mark was six seconds better than her previous high mark.
Both student-athletes finished in front of competitors from Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Purdue, among others.
YSU NATIONAL INVITATIONAL
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - At the YSU National Invitational, the Bobcats sit in fourth place out of nine teams with 36 points through one day of competition. Bucknell leads the event with 85.5 points.
Leading the way for Ohio was sophomore Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio), who finished first in the indoor pentathlon (3,458 points) to pick up 10 points for the Bobcats. Cuckler won the long jump in the event (5.47m) and also finished first in the high jump (1.64m) and the 60m hurdles (9:11).
Freshman Hayley Stegemiller (Lebanon, Ohio) won the 800m run (2:25.53) in the indoor pentathlon and finished seventh overall (2,850) to grab two points for the Bobcats.
Freshman Krista Roehlig (Uniontown, Ohio) registered five points with a fourth-place finish (18:01.97) in the 5,000m run, while senior Alexis Geiger (Gallipolis, Ohio) earned eight points with a second-place finish in the long jump (5.26m).
Both the Meyo Invitational and YSU National Invitational wrap up Saturday (Feb. 2).
