YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Ohio University women’s track & field team captured two event titles on day one of the YSU National Mid-Major Invitational at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).

Junior Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) won the long jump in a career-best mark of 5.70m. The jump is just .05m off the MAC qualifying standard and should give the junior a berth in the 2014 MAC Indoor Championships.

In addition, junior Donyelle Brown (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) won the weight throw with a mark of 17.45m. It marked Brown’s first title in the weight throw in her career. With her school record mark of 17.83m at the Tom Wright Classic, Brown already has qualified for the event at MAC Indoors.

Junior Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) placed fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.48m, while freshman Olivia Mayfield was fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.45m.

In the 4,000m distance medley relay, Ohio finished third out of seven teams with a time of 12:27.96.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday at the YSU Invite, while senior Melissa Thompson competes at the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., in the one mile run.
