Hoosier Hills Day One Results
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Ohio University women’s track & field team completed day one of competition at Hoosier Hills in Bloomington, Ind. on Friday (Feb. 8) and came away with four, top-five finishes.
In addition, junior Juli Accurso (Casstown, Ohio) finished 20th (16:33.53) in the 5,000m at the prestigious Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash.
In Bloomington, the Bobcats were paced by senior Danielle Winningham (Barboursville, W. Va.), who captured the 800m run title in 2:13.94. Winningham’s Ohio’s finish was Ohio’s best this season, and the seventh-fastest in the MAC this season. Winningham missed out on the MAC-qualifying time by just four tenths of a second.
Senior Erin Gale (Wadsworth, Ohio) also raced in the 800m and finished seventh with a time of 2:19.90.
In the 600m run, sophomore Karissa Conrad (Lancaster, Ohio) finished fourth in a time of 1:38.55, while sophomore Delaney Bolger (Lebanon, Ohio) finished sixth in 1:40.70 and freshman Hayley Stegemiller (Lebanon, Ohio) placed eighth in 1:41.60. Conrad’s time was the best by an Ohio student-athlete in more than two years.
Ohio received strong performances from senior Alexis Geiger (Gallipolis, Ohio) and sophomore Chanda Cuckler (Athens, Ohio) in the long jump. Geiger placed third with a jump of 5.46m while Cuckler placed seventh with a 5.34m performance. It was Geiger’s second best performance in the event during the 2013 indoor season.
Cuckler also earned a seventh place finish in the high jump with a jump of 1.62m.
In throws action, sophomore Janiece Rose (Franklinville, N.J.) finished ninth in the shot put with a throw of 12.87m, while senior Kristen Mason (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) placed 10th in the weight throw with a 15.32m effort. It was Mason’s best performance of the season and the 20th-best throw in the Mid-American Conference this season.
Junior Morgan Meade (Marion, Ohio) finished fourth out of 17 competitors in the mile run with a time of 5:10.80. Meade’s time was the third-best performance by an Ohio student-athlete in the event this season.
In relay action, the Ohio 4x400 medley relay squad finished fifth with a time of 3:59.84. It marked the 10th-best time by a 4x400 relay team in the MAC this season. The unit was composed of senior Kiley Mathews (Cortland, Ohio), Conrad, Cuckler and Winningham.
