Accurso Dominates in Seattle; Bobcats Start Strong at Hoosier Hills

ATHENS, Ohio - Juli Accurso won the 5k at the FloTrack Husky Classic this evening in Seattle, Wash., while a number of Bobcats turned in solid performances at the Hoosier Hills Invitational in Bloomington, Ind.

Accurso ran away from the field in the 5000 meters at the prestigious Husky Classic, winning the event with a time of 16:05.59. She finished almost six seconds ahead of closest competitor and smashed the Ohio school record by almost 17 seconds.

The Bobcats had three competitors finish in the top 10 of the weight toss at the Hoosier Hills Invitational. Kristen Mason placed fifth with a throw of 16.08 meters to pace the Green and White. Brianna Allen finished sixth with a career-best throw of 15.82 meters and Donyelle Brown was ninth.

Alexis Geiger had Ohio’s best finish of the night, placing third in the long jump with a jump of 5.41 meters. Olivia Vitou finished 13th with a leap of 5.01 meters.

On the evening, Ohio had five other top-15 finishes: Janiece Rose in the shot, Delaney Bolger and Erin Gale in the 600 meters, Courtney Weiss in the 800 meters and Allison Stillwell in the mile.

Competition continues tomorrow at the Hoosier Hills Invitational with events starting at 10:35 a.m.
